Day after day, Ralph has proclaimed that he is not on the bus with all those believing that Singletary is the answer for the 49ers. At the opening of yesterday's show, he announced that he has "left his house and is now at the bus station". However, he's still not ready to buy a ticket.
This inspired me to do a little number crunching. At this point in the 49ers season, they have played 7 games under Mike Nolan and 7 games under Mike Singletary. A perfect time to see how the team has performed under each coach. I broke the numbers down into the following two tables of offense and defense. I could bore you all by analyzing each category and why Singletary has made a difference because of this and that, but I think these numbers speak for themselves.
Nolan-Singletary 7-game breakdown | ||
OFFENSE | ![]() NOLAN | ![]() SINGLETARY |

For Ralph to keep harping that Singletary is not making a difference is absolutely ridiculous when you look at these stats. The decrease in penalties and increase in 3rd down efficiency are clear signs of good coaching and an inspired football team. Not that we want you on board Ralph, but this bus is leaving the station.
Wow the 3rd-down efficiency is a crazy difference. I thought that the defense would show the most improvement, but it is by far the offense. Cool post.
ReplyDeletegreat job crunching the numbers. I must admit i was initially skeptical when singletary first took the reigns because of his lack of experience. However, i was also optimistic because anything was better than nolan. He has blown my me away the last couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteEven though we lost the last game against the dolphins, i thought it was a productive lost. We can get something out it and grow as a team. In all of Nolan's loses, i felt we were just retarding the develoment of our youth. I surely hope he gets the job so he'll have a whole training camp to mold this team. I can see the improvement on the field and i'm impressed.
We don't need the razor on the bus. Since i've boycotted his show, sorry Mr. T, i hope he has stopped talking about Paraag Marathe already. With the amount of crap that the razor says about him, you'd think paraag kicked his dog or something. Geez.
Ralph would not own a dog because that would be cruelty to animals.
ReplyDeleteSingletary is going to turn this thing around. I truly believe that. I just hope that Martz will stay on so that we can keep going with the same O-coordinator for more than 2 seasons. If we can have continuity at head coach and o-coordinator next year then I like our chances of pushing for the playoffs.
